an introduction
2024
On this New Year’s Eve, I dismiss resolutions, reflect on the chaos that was 2024, and acknowledging some important lessons learned. Despite my gratitude for an immense amount of personal growth, I can only hope that 2025 is less tumultuous than its predecessor.
A Kind of Homecoming
A reflection on returning to a place that holds traumatic childhood memories. Despite my current mental health struggles, I find a strange sense of comfort in the familiarity of this place; it’s allowing me to process pain and find clarity. It represents a chance for healing and a fresh start.
Let’s Go to the Cinema…
After an unintentional hiatus involving a wedding, the holidays, and a dose of the sads, I’ve started finding solace in watching classic movies, developing an appreciation for the unique styles of old cinema. I’ve been on a Frankenstein kick, watching the films from the 1930’s, and then the Abbott and Costello take from the 40’s. I’ve also now developed a crush on Lou Costello.
Dream A Little Dream
I’ve been taking melatonin due to insomnia and experiencing vivid dreams as a side effect. Here’s a recent dream, taking place at a mall with friends. Kosher food, unexpected chicken tenders, and an unusually large amount of Horsey sauce from Arby’s make appearances.
Thanks
On Thanksgiving, I reflect on things I’m grateful for in this weird time we’re living in. I’m taking joy in the YouTube channel Ordinary Sausage, finding virtual companionship on Mastodon, valuing the impact of home appliances for my mental health, take comfort in my cats, and find joy in Thanksgiving dessert. These reflections serve as reminders of beauty and positivity in dire times.
